# Electrical Joint Training Committee (EJTC) > EJTC trains entry-level and apprentice electricians and delivers continuing education for journeyperson electricians in British Columbia's Lower Mainland and Okanagan. EJTC is the joint training arm of the unionized electrical sector in the region, governed by a volunteer board with representation from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 213 and the Electrical Contractors Association of BC (ECA of BC). It currently manages more than 1,100 apprentices and is recognized by Skilled Trades BC as the #1 sponsor for both female and Indigenous apprentices. Graduates receive Level 1 technical training credit toward the Construction Electrician apprenticeship and may be selected as apprenticeship candidates. - **Construction Electrician Apprenticeship:** A five-year apprenticeship combining paid on-the-job training with technical training levels. Graduates who pass the interprovincial standards exam receive a Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal endorsement and a Certificate of Apprenticeship. Apprentices become IBEW Local 213 union members. - **Journeyperson Upgrading:** Continuing education for qualified journeyperson electricians who are IBEW Local 213 members in good standing, covering topics such as Electrical Code, Conduit Bending, EV Infrastructure, Fire Alarm Installation, PLC, Arc Flash, and Solar PV certification. - **EJTC Foundation:** A giving program providing bursaries, scholarships and partnerships to support apprentices and students facing financial barriers. - **Women in Electrical Trades:** Support and mentorship for women entering the trade, delivered with the IBEW 213 Women's Committee and the BC Centre for Women in the Trades, working toward a goal of 20% of apprenticeship slots. - **Indigenous Pathways:** "Alternate Pathways to the Electrical Trades," delivered with ACCESS since 2017, combining eight weeks of skills training with the standard entry program. We do not offer: direct electrical contracting or repair services to the public (EJTC trains electricians, it does not perform electrical work); enrollment for students on international study or work permits (EJTC is not a Designated Learning Institution); or training under any IBEW jurisdiction outside BC's Lower Mainland and Okanagan. --- ## Who We Serve Our primary audience is prospective and current apprentice electricians, and journeyperson electricians who are IBEW Local 213 members, across British Columbia's Lower Mainland and Okanagan region.
