Entry Level Trades Training Course
The Entry Level Trades Training (ELTT) Course is offered by the Electrical Joint Training Committee (EJTC) and is located at the Electrical Industry Training Institute (EITI) in Surrey. Successful completion results in six months credit toward Trades Training.
The EJTC is an accredited institution (#2629) under the Private Career Training Institution Act (PCTIA).
PROGRAM: (Full-time)
The EJTC/EITI Entry Level Trades Training provides a combination of
electrical theory and practical training to prepare individuals for apprenticeships
within the electrical construction industry.
Topics include electrical theory and code, lockout procedures, forklift certification, fall arrest training, WHMIS, TDG, Confined Space procedures, Hilti shot certification, and rigging.
Participants who successfully complete the training program will be eligible for a 10 weeks paid work experience placement with Electrical Contractors Association of BC member companies associated with the Electrical Joint Training Committee. The EJTC will then select full-time apprenticeship candidates from these program graduates, based upon work availability.
Start date: Next class scheduled for January 2009
(15 weeks of technical training followed by 10 weeks paid work experience)
Hours: 8:00AM to 3:30PM Monday through Friday

Program Costs:
$4,000.00 plus books and materials (approx. $600.00) plus GST. Note: fees are subject to change.
Participants are expected to provide their own personal safety footwear and transportation to and from training site.
Prerequisites:
Grade 12 with successful completion of the following: Principles of Math 11, Physics 11 and English 12 or equivalent. Basic computer skills required. Participants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Admission to the ELTT program will be based on the following criteria:
- Meeting all the prerequisite requirements
- Academic placement exam demonstrating competency in prerequisite areas
- Successful interview with the Electrical Joint Training Committee
