Apply for an Electrical Apprenticeship

Prerequisites to apply for electrical apprenticeship:

  • Successful completion of our Entry Level Trades Training (ELTT) program offered through our Electrical Joint Training Committee or another accredited training institute (eg. BCIT)

    - OR -
  • Indentured Apprentice (with at least 900 hours of work experience) and successful completion of Electrical Work Level 1 or higher from an approved technical training school

    - OR -
  • Grade 12 with successful completion of three (3) courses: English 12 (or equivalent), Principles of Math 12 and Physics 11

To apply, you must submit the following:

  1. A completed application form (forms can be downloaded and printed (150KB PDF), or picked up from our office in person);
  2. An up-to-date cover letter and resume;
  3. An official transcript from ELTT and/or Electrical Work Level 1 (or higher, if applicable) from the Industry Training Authority (ITA)
  4. An official transcript from your high school showing completion of prerequisite courses (if you require a transcript and have graduated in BC, they can be requested from here).

Please note that preferred access to EJTC apprenticeships is given to EJTC ELTT graduates.

Documents may be submitted:

  • Via mail, fax or e-mail;
  • In person during regular office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM);
  • In a sealed envelope marked “EJTC”, dropped off in the lock box at front door if office is closed.

Please note that the IBEW Apprenticeship is based on a five (5) year program
(Credits may be granted having successfully completed a recognized ELTT/Foundation program and/or previous electrical work experience).
