About Us

The EJTC is a partnership between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 213 and the Electrical Contractors Association of BC.

Through a training director, the EJTC manages the union apprenticeship program. This includes screening, placement and monitoring of approximately 250 electrical apprentices per year. Individuals seeking employment as apprentices in the electrical trades apply to the EJTC for work opportunities. The EJTC screens and interviews applicants and then arranges for apprenticeship training and placement.

In addition to the apprenticeship program, the EJTC provides expertise and insight into new curriculum for emerging technologies in the electrical construction industry, as well as providing journeyperson upgrading courses to allow practitioners to maintain their skills and knowledge in the field.

The EJTC operates a private school currently licensed as an accredited institution under the Private Career Training Institution Act. Through this school we offer electrical industry courses to the public in remedial training for apprentices, to prepare for the interprovincial exam, and a new course in electrical pre-apprenticeship training for those individuals interested in getting started in the industry. Our interprovincial course is very popular and has a high success rate.

We are active participants in the Secondary School Apprenticeship program and hire students every summer who show interest in the trade.

The EJTC has been responsible for apprenticeship training in British Columbia for more than a century. We are very proud of our history and the consistent high quality of trades training.
